What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It was discovered by Mikao Usui in March 1922. Reiki is administered by "laying on of hands" and techniques such as this have been practiced for thousands of years. Reiki is a very simple yet powerful technique that can be easily learned by anyone.
How does Reiki work?
Ki - Life Energy
The word "Ki" means the same as Chi in Chinese, Prana in Sanskrit and Ti or Ki in Hawaiian; and science calls it biofield energy. It has been given many other names by various cultures.
Ki is life energy. It is also known as the vital life force or the universal life energy. This is the non-physical enrgy that animates all living things. As long as something is alive, it has life energy circulating through it and surrounding it; when it dies, the life energy departs. If your life energy is low, or if there is a restriction in its flow, you will be more vulnerable to illness. When it is high and flowing freely, you are less likely to get sick. Life energy plays an important role in everything we do. It animates the bod7y and has higher levels of expression. Ki is also the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life.
Reiki is a special kind of Ki. It is Ki that is guided by spiritual consciousness, and is defined as spiritually guided life energy. This is a meaningful interpretation of the word Reiki.
How does Reiki heal?
We are alive because life energy or Ki is flowing through us. Ki flows within the physical body through pathways called chakras, meridians and nadis and can also be present and pass directly through the organs and tissues of the body. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura. The free and balance flow of healthy Ki is the cause of well being. It is Ki that animates the physical organs and tissues as it flows through them. Ki nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When the flow of healthy Ki is disrupted, it causes diminished functioning within one or more of the orgas and tissues of the physical body. Therefore it is the disruption in the flow of healthy Ki that is the main cause of illness.

What is Integrated Energy Therapy?
IET was developed at the Center of Being, by Stevan J. Thayer.
IET practitioners believe that our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies retain energies from our experiences. IET address nine cellular memory areas to adjust these retained energies. The primary benefits to IET are to clear retained energy blocks (such as fear) and to imprint empowerment (such as security). Clients may or may not feel the actual shifts during a session. Clients generally feel relaxed and balanced after IET sessions. IET reduces stress and brings about relaxation. It effects healing in the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical body.
For thousands of years, Eastern medical approaches have focused on the electromagnetic energy field of the human body. The energy witForhin this field has been given different names by various cultures. Some of the more commonly used names include: Ki(Japan), Chi(China), Prana(India), Argon, Innate Intelligence, Love, Qi, The Force and Tao.
Western medical science is now able to quantify and prove that this energy field and these meridian exist and tests are being conducted regarding which frequencies heal which diseases. Energy vibrates at different frequencies and studies have proven that certain frequencies are associated with certain ailments and diseases. This could be the future of modern medicine as we discover non invasive and effective ways to heal the body.
This energy has been found to flow through prescribed passageways, somewhat like blood as it flows through veins and arteries. Meridians are the pathways that bring energy to nourish and replenish each organ, and channels are the pathways that balance the energy between meridians.
As we journey through our lives, the flow of energy can become restricted or limited. You can think of the energy pathways being like riverbeds that become choked by a beaver dam. The dam does not stop the flow but rather it limits the flow and creates an area of energy stagnation. These restrictions are commonly referred to as energy blockages. Some causes of energy blockates are: physical trauma, surgery, disease, exhaustion, starvation, emotional crisis, suppressed feelings, stress, fear, self-limiting thoughts and karma. Energy blockages limit our experience of life and can result in lack of spontaneity, energy depletion and even disease.
In Integrated Energy Therapy , we work with the integration channel, a special channel that serves to rebalance the energy of the body's cellular memory. Rebalancing of energy within the integration channel is self-directing and self-regulating. As practitioners, we work to support the body's natural ability to establish and maintain proper balance of this channel.
The objective of IET is to provide a simple and gentle way to open the flow of vital lifeforce within the human body and the human energy field, by integrating supressed feelings from cellular memory and clearing their associated energy blockages.
We support this balancing process through two techniques: energizing and integrating. Energizing is the process of channeling integrated energy through our human energy field, into an area of cellular memory. This energy is channeled by means of the secondary chakras in the palms of our hands. Through designated hand placements, we systematically flood areas of cellular memory with integrated energy.
While energizing the cellular memory sets the stage for clearing, integrating is the power behind the IET process. Integrating is achieved by means of channeling integrated energy through specific acupressure like points, called integration points. Integration points are areas, generally the size of a quarter, where the flow of energy comes close to the surface of the body and where the transfer of energy is very efficient. Integration points are located along the integration channel. As we apply light pressure and channel integrated energy through an integration point, we immediately begin the clearing process.
What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a natural, non-invasive therapy embracing the whole concept of holistic treatment. The ears, hands and feet are microcosms of the body. By stimulating the nerve endings in the feet we send messages along the nerve pathways to the various organs & other body parts & systems. Thus we stimulate and communicate with the nerve network to the body. This helps to balance the energies within the body. We are treating an existing imbalance in the energy of the body.
Nerve meridians run throughout our bodies and our feet and hands have the end points of these meridians. When this nerve is stimulated the nerve reflexes to the areas of the body to which it is connected via that nerve meridian are brought into balance or homeostasis which is our greatest state of well being. Areas of the foot correspond to organs and systems of the body. Pressure applied to the foot brings healing to the corresponding area of the body without any possible contraindications. Reflexology improves blood and nerve supply to all areas of the body, stimulates the lymphatic system which boosts the immune system, improves circulation to aid in elimination of excess waste products and fluids, increases oxygen from the lungs to all the tissues, and promotes the natural function of the body.
Reflexologists use foot charts to guide them as they apply pressure to specific areas. Reflexology is sometimes combined with other hands-on therapies such as Reiki. The stimulation of the nerve meridians also stimulates the energy meridians of the body which are opened to vital lifeforce energy through Reiki.
Reflexology can reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as stress and anxiety, and enhance relaxation and sleep. It is a very effective non invasive healing modality especially when combined with Reiki.
I personally have already experienced amazing successes with reflexology such as an individual with severe nerve pain who had total relief from pain after one session which continued for 5 days. This person usually has excruciating pain and takes strong pain killers all the time, as well as finding themselves unable to function due to the pain.
If dealing with a chronic or acute condition, it is best to start with weekly sessions until eventually tapering off for maintenance to sessions once per month.
